Teaching experiences
-I have more than 29 years of experience in teaching art, from basic skills to professional-level instruction, skills including mentoring students preparing portfolio for university admission.
-Before coming to the U.S, I was a teacher in International schools and in university preparatory schools in South Korea.
-I have won awards for teaching in American schools in Chinhae in S. Korea in 1999.
2023 Art Summer Camps
Professional art instruction for children, teens and adults.
Join artist and teacher Sun Hee Oberfoell for art camps that will offer drawing, painting, sculptures, Manga and cartoons.
Sun Hee offers unique learning opportunities and technical tools to help students learn.
Students with beginning to advanced skills are welcome. Sun Hee can also do individual sessions and topics based on student needs.
Classes are generally structured according to age, with some flexibility for students with special needs or advanced skills.
Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media & Cartoons
The sessions will feature step-by-step instruction in art skills from basic to advanced. Topics include understanding two and three-dimensions, the golden ratio, landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and composition.
Media will include oil pastels, dry pastels, conte, chalk, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencils, drawing pencils, wire, styrofoams and clay.
Additional lesson plans may vary depending upon the needs and interests of the students.
Three sessions offered (9:30 am -12:30 pm)
Session 1: June 26-30
Session 2: July 3-7
Session 3: July 10-14
Year-round lessons
-From kindergarten through adult
-Flexible grouping according to ability and /or interest level
-Skills covered include sketching, drawing, painting, and sculpture
-Media include watercolor, pastel, oil painting, acrylic, chalk, clay, wire, mixed media, etc
Group Art Classes with School ages
This class focuses on visual perception in drawing and painting skills while exposing students to a wide variety of techniques and media.
Cost: $35 per person per class (this cost is for 2 to 5 students in a group).
Group Art Classes with ages 11+ and Adults
This class focuses on drawing and sculpture about human anatomy and human proportion. We will be looking at how to better draw faces and bodies of humans and then make sculptures of them step by step.

I teach art as a discipline, not as a craft. My students made great strides in their artistic skills. I welcome students ranging in age from five years through adulthood.
